Drug cartels are allegedly stepping up their dominance as they silence both police, military & journalists, not to mention the horror ordinary citizens have long endured.

Some, and many from virtually all sides seem to agree, to call for an end to the so-called 'war on drugs' we are clearly losing, and the legalization of marijuana & other non-lethal recreational drugs. This will stem the tide and incentive of profit for the cartels imvolved, and would even fatten the coffers of US and Mexican tax revenues. A win-win for most all involved.

Looks like an eeerie night - June thunderstorms and lightning scaring up the place. The view outside looks forboding, like you don't wanna be too far out there if at all.

This morning wakes up to the sound of a couple fighting over a cellphone. It got a bit violent, so violent that the man had to arrest a brother. All I can say is, keep your hands off the lady fella, unless she strikes you. And even then I'd think twice.

My best offense - defense! I reccomend it to you.

Otherwise, stay in on this wicked night. Stay inside, warm, you and her, cuddled up snuggly in bed. Mmmmmm......

It appears that the expected response to Judge Sonia Sotomayor is one that will be resounded by the public at large and bring down the Grand Old Party to its small partisian knees. It is an argument that's less about whether you believe in racial politics, or whether you'll take the bait.

The Obama mind works in strange but mysterious ways to some, but not to those who can relate to his central messages: that we have to get past our various political and ideological differences, most of which have no benefit or place for us today as Americans, to do what's best and most prosperous for the country as a whole. That means all of us get to participate in the promise that our grandparents and their parents fought for in the 20th century, a chance to earn an honest wages, make a decent living, provide squarely for our families (that doesn't necessarily mean take to Disney World every year, folks), and be protected in our health and welfare til our dying day. We all were born into such a system; why we now want to dismantle, even destroy it, is obviously a very misguided stance that doesn't take history or our welfare into account at all.

So by nominating this brilliant and well-respected jurist, Latina, born-in-New York City in the Barrio, with lots of federal court experience, corporate law and public interest litigation experience as well, by having no other recourse other than to paint an inaccurate picture of her as a racist, when in fact it's your racism that must be called into attention, Obama has put out an APB on the GOP: these are the enemies of freedom. YOUR FREEDOM! Remember, it was the GOP conservatives who scuttled immigration, mostly from the South. While some southern-tier states like Texas particulary has a border problem, others like the Carolinas and Tennessee are just full of rrednecks. This is the core, like Al Qaeda in Swat Province, who are the real raicsts for whom Limbaugh speaks. These are the ones, in their hidden valleys, who are spewing messages of intolerance against which Hispanics cringe. By nominating this jurist, the first Hispanic (or any legitimate origin, despite what rumors we've heard about Cardozo) from the traditional communities we all recognize as such coast-to-coast, the curtains have been pulled back and there they stand, naked to hiding, now visible for all to see. It's up to them which performance they put on for us.

In the meantime, we're just so happy we finally have a Hispanic woman as a Supreme Court justice who understands us as regular, good, decent people trying to live together in this cold cold world. Hola!

Who AM I ???

who am i like in my family? that's an interesting question. i like you are made up of the sum of its parts (namely, my parts) and as such we have many layers. I know I have some interesting characteristics with certain men, namely my uncles Aaron, Glenn, David and John, and my aunts Gloria, Anna and Yvonne. I also have a fearful backdrop of gothic mythology around God and who he is and what he is and how he looks from my Aunt Freddie (Fredora), who was a religious zealot to the secular world we live in but perhaps ahead of her time in so many ways as we now see Christianity in our current time ~ anyway, these people make up parts of my self.

in trying to figure out who i am, i look at these people and ask: how much of me is them? what in them make me? what in me is them?

you will note that i am not looking for the direct relationship from my mom or dad, who of course also get some of who they are from them. or from their common parents as well. more of what they are explains, i think, those gaps in who i or you are. the quirks in their personality, the trials in their lives, are sometimes my trials.

i want to explore what they are and how they influenced me. o no doubt, they had a unique influence in me because, as we can see, they are me - in blood, in DNA, in lineage. they are who my father and mother are as siblings, and as branches of the same tree. it cannot be unmarried.

simplicity in knowing who you are rests in the complexity of just how many people you are.

Just a new sexy I found on Facebook while looking at a friend's page. She's hot, her name is Maria. no she's not of any asian persuasion, in fact she is of latino persuasion, speficially dominicano. she is fucking outstanding, so I post her here.

as you can see, she is a model, a musician, an aspiring student interested in saving the world, and one we should keep our eyes on for more things in the world of fashion or politics or whatever later. ciao, Maria!

MUTUAL OPPRESSION BREEDS LOVE

My wife and I had a good experience one evening. You might not find it as such at first when you hear it, but when you realize what we realized, you will have learned a good thing today.

"Prejudice, as a weapon to shield against fear, is not only painful to the people you perpetrate it on, but hazardous to your own health. Purge it from your body, from your life."

We had this idiot of a white chick come by our place one day. She comes in, and frankly it was a bit of my fault that I missed her call. But nevertheless she came in smiling, nice and everything seemed cool at first. Then my wife came into the room and said "hi" - but the stupid chick ignored her hello and with her entering the room right in front of her face. She then almost did the same thing (make that she did it then tried to correct it as the actual behavior). We were appalled and shocked at her raicst insidious arrogance which she no doubt doesn't know or care exists. This is the kind of person one hates. But it also breeds love between us, and makes me realize how much asian and black peole have in common. Unfortunately, but fortunately, it came at the barrel of a gun.

Mutual oppression breeds love between us. Take advantage of it.

Btw, a little somethin' more about the power of Uhura:

And a little mo' about Sulu:

Sulu is a Island Province in the Philippinos Archepelagos, surrounded by the Sulu Sea. As Gene Roddenberry allegedly once put it, the name of the sea was the right one to represent his view of a united and peaceful Asia in the future, because "it touched all sides". It is more of a Filipion word, as Hikaru (Japanese male name for 2nd son) Sulu was actually of Japanese-Filipino-American descent (born in San Francisc0). George Takei, who played Sulu, also was one of the first Californians to get married under their "same-sex" marriage laws of 2008.

One thing for sure: these 22nd century hotties were used to the flow by then!

Perhaps they had alreafy begun to figure it out in the 60s...

a new journey

i think it would be good if we created a blog about another growing phenomenom: increasing relationships between asian and black people. and not just asian female -black male. although it appears it too has been growing lately, there is also a growing trend of black female - asian male as well as black women - white male couples as of late. i think it would be good to cover this.

hopefully we get a bit of a dialogue from those in such relationships, whether good/bad/difficult/easy/whatever you find as trends, issues or habits we share or experience. i hope to get an open dialogue on what draws you and what you struggle with (if that's one way of describing it) and why, most probably, you'll want to come back for more.

i'll add more as we begin....
